Better Words for "amazing"
“Amazing” is conversational glue. In writing, it signals enthusiasm but rarely tells the reader why. Pick a word that names what you admired.
remarkable, extraordinary, outstanding, impressive, exceptional, stunning, exquisite, magnificent
About achievement
When you mean the achievement was rare or hard to pull off.
She did an amazing job.
She did an exceptional job — three competing constraints, all satisfied.
About a thing or place
When you mean visually or sensorially striking.
The view was amazing.
The view was breathtaking — the mountains framing the lake at sunset.
About a feeling
When you mean it left a strong emotional impression.
It was an amazing experience.
It was a deeply moving experience that I still think about.
Common mistake
Don't multiply “amazing” with adverbs. “Truly amazing” still doesn't tell us why.
